Vagabond Playhouse Extends Area Appreciation For Shakespeare ABRIDGED!

BRANSON, MISSOURI - The Vagabond Playhouse - the professional theatre venue of the Vagabond Stage Company- celebrated its grand opening with a full weekend of Area Appreciation performances. The opening went so well that they have decided to extend Area Appreciation for an additional weekend. The Vagabond Playhouse is Branson’s first professional regional style theatre, producing a season of plays, original works, and other professional theatre. The inaugural show is The Complete Works of William Shakespeare ABRIDGED by Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess Winfield, and will play on Fridays at 8:00PM, Saturdays at 8:00PM, and Sundays at 3:00PM and 8:00PM. The show premiered on August 20th, 2010 and runs through the end of October, 2010.

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare ABRIDGED is a bold, irreverent romp through every comedy, history, and tragedy written by William Shakespeare. The show is performed by only three actors- area professionals Michael J. Diprizio, Larry Foster, and Cory Paul Pichoff- who play all of the parodied characters and offer up a farcical feast of inspired lunacy. The Los Angeles Times says “Wildly funny. Masterful!” The Montreal Gazette boasts “One of the funniest shows you are likely to see in your lifetime.” And The Today Show says “If you like Shakespeare, you’ll like this show. If you hate Shakespeare, you’ll love this show!”

The weekend of August 27th, 28th, and 29th is the extension for Area Appreciation, and shows are offered at the discounted rate of only $10 for adult and $5 for children/teenage (ages 3-15) residents of Branson and the surrounding counties in Missouri and Arkansas: including Stone, Taney, Marion, Baxter, Barry, Greene, Christian, Lawrence, Polk, Webster, Carroll and Boone. Todd Oliver & Friends Bring New Show to Jim Stafford Theatre

Talking Dogs, Real Dummies, & The Smiling Eyes perform with Todd Oliver in Branson, MO

Nationally known comedian Todd Oliver will appear at the Jim Stafford Theatre in Branson, Missouri in his own show, Todd Oliver & Friends, in 2011. Todd Oliver & Friends shows begin on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, and will run through December 30, 2011. Todd Oliver, known for his amazing talking dogs and hilarious comedy, says, “Along with my canine friends – Irving, Lucy, and Elvis – I’ll be joined by a ‘real’ cast of characters like Pops, Miss Lilly, Joey, and my outstanding Smiling Eyes Band. We’ve got a lot of audience participation segments, original music, and outrageous comedy.” Irving the talking dog adds, “We’re gonna turn everyday K-9 experiences into a howling good time!” While Todd Oliver has developed his show over the course of several years, this is the first time that his full show will be available to Branson audiences. Shows are at 12 noon and include a lunch served prior to the show. There will also be some 6:00pm shows in December with dinner served prior to the show.

Jim Stafford, theater owner and comic-genius, says, “I’m thrilled about having Todd Oliver at my theater. Todd’s got a fall-down funny, hip comedy style and a totally different show that audiences of all ages love. Not only have Todd and I been great friends throughout the years, we’ve talked about what great fun it would be to perform in the same theater. Now that this place is going to the dogs, I’m just happy Irving isn’t a Chihuahua.” Todd adds, “At least they can talk and have had their shots. On an important note, these dogs are family pets, some of whom have been adopted, and they wag their tails while they work like a dog.”

Another unique aspect to Todd Oliver & Friends is that a picnic lunch is included in the show ticket and is served prior to the show. Lunch includes your choice of sandwich, hotdog, or PB&J (for kids), and beverage choices, as well as seasonal side items like potato salad, chips, baked beans, cookies, cupcakes, strawberry soup, and more. Table seating for lunch is provided. Stafford adds, “Doggie bags are optional.”

Eire and Brimstone: Rock & Roll … With a Celtic Soul!
On Saturday, August 14, Waxy O’Shea’s Irish Pub at Branson Landing will host Branson’s liveliest rock band: Eire & Brimstone!

Eire & Brimstone is made up of several local entertainers, each with some connection to Ireland, Scotland and Wales. None of the band are immigrants, but you don’t have to dig very deep to see the bandmembers’ love of all things Celtic.

“I’m really enjoying getting back to my roots. This band is really pushing me to connect to my Irish heritage.” Says fiddler Bonnie Riley. One may recognize Bonnie from the several professional shows in Branson in which she is featured.

“My Grandfather was quintessential Irish Chicago cop.” Says Dan Richards. Dan also has family ties to Wales. One might remember Dan playing lead guitar for the rowdy Dirty Old Towne band.

“I have red hair—they can’t kick me out!” exclaims Michael Horn, lead vocalist and songwriter for Eire & Brimstone. Michael’s family tree stretches from Ireland across the Irish sea to Scotland.

Eire and Brimstone’s music is a mix of original tunes with Celtic flair, covers of tunes from famous Celtic bands, and traditional pub tunes that you might hear at an Irish pub sessiun. Eire and Brimstone shows usually include some bandmembers wearing kilts. All in attendance are encouraged to raise their glasses for frequent toasts.

Branson Zipline & Canopy Tours Reveals Freefall Xpress Is The Final Step on Blue Streak Fast Line

On the outer edge of Branson, Missouri, just north of the shows and theaters, sits Branson Zipline & Canopy Tours at Wolfe Creek Preserve. Branson’s newest attraction is the home of many unique eco-adventures including the Blue Streak Fast Line with the Freefall Xpress. This thrilling experience begins with a nearly quarter-mile zip that reaches heights of over 150 feet before landing onto a 100-foot tower. “Then many of our guests are surprised to find that from there, it’s a freefall from the top of the tower to the ground,” says Emma Hamilton General Manager. “The landing feels like you’ve jumped only 8-inches in the air.”

       At Branson Zipline & Canopy Tours the only experience that has the Freefall Xpress as a method of dismounting from the 100’ platform is the Blue Streak Fast Line. The other experiences are guided, low-impact canopy tours where guests traverse multiple ziplines, sky bridges, and platforms soaring through the trees and above the forest fauna.   Some guests choose to combine a canopy tour with the Blue Streak Fast Line in order to experience the Freefall Xpress.

       A unique rewind mechanism is incorporated in the fan that powers the Freefall Xpress, providing subtle tensile strength as the fall begins. The fan is driven by the descending person’s mass. There is no external power source. The PowerFan© allows a person to fall 70-feet before gently slowing over the next 30-feet to a complete stop. Emma says, “On the Freefall Xpress stepping off the platform into thin air is an exhilarating experience. Taking the step is the challenge; once you’ve done it you’ll want to do it again with your eyes open.”

       Aside from being used to train paramilitary troops, power fans have been used commercially in areas such as Europe, though Branson Zipline & Canopy Tours has the first and only PowerFan© used for a 100-foot freefall in North America! “Taking the Blue Streak Fast Line goes beyond just an amazing zip experience,” says Emma. “With the Freefall Xpress our visitors are the first to experience this cutting edge adventure.”

First Annual Titanic Firehouse Chili Cookoff Set for Saturday, October 2nd

Titanic Branson Museum Attraction's first regional Firemen's Chili Championship Cookoff is scheduled to fire-up on Saturday, October 2^nd from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the museum attraction's outdoor arena, announces Titanic Branson owner, John Joslyn.

"Firemen chefs will light their fires in honor of the brave firemen and stokers who

stood their ground when the great Titanic went down. They'll be competing against

fire fighting challengers for thousands of dollars of prize money and the chance to

bring home the Great Firehouse Chili Cookoff Championship title," says Joslyn.

"First place winner will receive $3,000; Second Place winner, $2,000; and Third Place

Winner, $1,000," Joslyn adds.

Chili cookers will be up early slicing, dicing, chopping and stirring gallons of chili in a spirited, five-hour cook-a-thon that begins at 10 a.m. Hot and spicy, mild and mellow, secret ingredients and guarded recipes all come together at the Great Firehouse Chili Cookoff. The public is invited to come early, watch the prep, sample the many different firehouse chili concoctions and pass judgment as they see fit.

A select panel of judges will declare the cookoff winners at 4 p.m. "At this time, a special "People's Choice Award" donation will be made to the Missouri Humane Society," Joslyn declares.

Ride the Ducks™ Resumes Operations in Atlanta, Branson and San Francisco; Will Open Newport Shortly

(July 10, 2010) - Ride The Ducks (RTD) confirmed it will resume operations today in Atlanta, Georgia; Branson, Missouri and San Francisco, California. The Newport, Kentucky location is expected to open shortly.

Philadelphia RTD operations will remain closed until further notice. Due to the seriousness of a July 7 collision between a tugboat, barge and RTD amphibious vehicle and out of respect to the families, the company voluntarily suspended operations nationwide on Thursday, July 8. RTD is cooperating fully with National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and local investigations.

"While we are completely confident in our standard operating procedures, we felt it was appropriate to review procedures and vehicles at each of our company-owned locations," said RTD President Chris Herschend. "Our inspections confirmed our vessels are safe and adhere to a robust set of operating and training standards which meet or exceed U.S. Coast Guard (USGC) or local requirements."

Herschend added Ride The Ducks adheres to all water and land regulations for commercial vehicles and takes the safety of its passengers and crews very seriously. All vehicles are inspected twice daily with extensive maintenance checks.

It’s Hotter After Dark at White Water

Branson, Mo. -- There’s not much that can top splashing the day away -- unless it’s surfing under the stars. Back by popular demand, it’s Night Water at White Water. From July 2 to 10, guests can play all day and into the night with a one-day ticket or season pass, or come after 5 p.m. for five hours of fun for just $20 per person. The whole family has the chance to play the night away at White Water until 10 p.m. every night.

Nighttime thrills abound at the region’s largest fun-filled tropical getaway. Guests can raft the challenging Ohana Falls or surf the 500,000 gallon wave pool at dusk, meander down the Lazy River under the stars, and maneuver Raging River Rapids and the Bermuda Triangle in the dark.

For the adventurous, the region’s largest high-speed water ride is the ultimate after-dark experience. Take in the panoramic view of the lights of B-town before plunging 75 feet on Kalani Towers, a multi-experience thrill ride with two 300-foot drop slides for freefall body sliding at speeds up to 40 mph, and four additional 312-foot slides for lane racing at speeds up to 25 miles per hour. “Kalani Towers is the ultimate splashdown thrill, and it’s even better after dark,” says White Water General Manager Jackie Smith. “The entire family can get in on the fun, whether plummeting down the huge drop flumes, or racing down the four-lane slides.”

Even the youngest members of the family can play under the stars at Night Water. RainTree and Splash Islands, along with Little Squirts’ Waterworks, offer fun for the whole family.

BRANSON, MO – June 15, 2010 - The Branson Exhibition Center today announced its first new world-class exhibition, "Diana - The People's Princess," will be making its royal debut in Branson this summer for a limited engagement.

Already experienced by adoring audiences around the world, this blockbuster exhibition will open Thursday, July 1, 2010 – just in time to commemorate Princess Diana's 49th birthday.

Centrally located at the former Roy Rogers Museum on Green Mountain Drive, the exhibition at the new Branson Exhibition Center will give area visitors and residents alike an opportunity to experience an in-depth look into one of the world's most intriguing personalities—as told through the images and objects which help reveal her fascinating story.

A Royal Brush with History

The self-guided tour takes guests through a series of zones, each dedicated to a different time in Princess Diana's life, featuring state-of-the-art videos throughout the exhibit. 21st Annual Honor America Celebration Slated for June 27

College of the Ozarks invites the public to attend the 21st annual Honor America on Sunday, June 27. The event will begin with a picnic at 4:30 p.m. where attendees can purchase barbecue items, followed by a musical entertainment beginning at 5 p.m. and a patriotic program and concert at 8 p.m.

“Honor America has become a tradition that people of all ages can enjoy,” said Elizabeth Andrews, College of the Ozarks public relations director. “Kids can play with tinker toys, make bubbles and much more, while parents and grandparents can enjoy great music, barbecue and relax. Folks who attend will experience an atmosphere reminiscent of an old-fashioned patriotic celebration.”

This year’s event will host a new slate of entertainers. Before the sky lights up with fireworks, the cast from Red, Hot… and Blue! will perform American classics from the 40s, 50s and 60s. The Petersen Family Band of Branson will entertain attendees with bluegrass and southern gospel music.

“Patriotism is a main focus at College of the Ozarks, and Honor America is a great way to celebrate that,” said Andrews. “I can’t think of a better way to kick off the Fourth of July holiday than by coming to the College’s beautiful campus to listen to music that encompasses the American spirit and to pay tribute to our nation. Branson’s “Anthem” Newest Addition to Fountain Show at Branson Landing

Following the 50-year celebration of the” live music show capital” last year, Branson still has a lot to sing about with even more celebrations this year including the 50th birthday of the award-winning Silver Dollar City theme park and the 50th year of the Shepherd of the Hills outdoor drama.

And sing about it, they do. The song, Listen to the Music, recorded by the Doobie Brothers in 1972, has become the theme song for Branson and many will recognize this familiar tune as the music playing behind the Branson TV commercials, currently seen on national cable. To promote the variety and live music bonanza one can find in Branson, from The Legend of Kung Fu, with a cast of over 50 performers, to Neal McCoy and Buck Trent at the new Clay Cooper Theatre, Joseph Hall in “A Tribute to Elvis,” and the award-winning vocal band The Cat’s Pajamas and so much more, Branson Landing, the 95-acre retail entertainment destination with over 100 shops and restaurants, decided to add a new show to their $7.5 million fountain spectacular.

Now visitors to the Branson Landing will see and hear the Doobie Brother's rendition of Listen to the Music, choreographed to water, fire, light and music. Marc Williams, Principal of HCW, LLC, the developer of the Branson Landing, stated, "I was approached by Tammy Scholten, Director of Marketing/Entertainment for the Branson Landing, about using the Doobie Brothers "Listen to the Music" as the next new fountain show and after much discussion, we all agreed that this song would be a great way to welcome guests to Branson and Branson Landing, as well as tie in with the recognizable music theme associated with Branson and all that the city has to offer."
